Surprisingly, it can take only a matter of hours, with disappointing results. I heard of one very large well-known site that sold 50,000 "impressions" for L$5,000. I was curious to see how effective it was, so I tried it out with this banner ad...
I paid them L$5000 for 50,000 "impressions." As it turned out, my conversion rate was very good! 1 in 5 people who clicked my banner ad subscribed...A 20% conversion rate. So I received 10,000 new subscriptions, right? WRONG!!! OUT OF 50,000 "IMPRESSIONS" ONLY 5 PEOPLE CLICKED ON MY BANNER AD!!! Hmmmm L$5,000 for 1 new reader? That was not exactly cost-effective for me. And my 50K impressions were used up in less than 12 hours!So what was the problem? From MY perspective, it was that every time a person opened a page on that site, if my ad was displayed it counted as an impression. And if they stayed on that page for a few minutes, it counted as SEVERAL "impressions." Obviously MOST readers DID NOT even see or click on my ad, and yet it still counted as an "impression." ...kinda bogus, eh? I certainly felt so.

If you don't receive your full 50 clicks the first month, then your initial, free 50-click-balance will be carried into the next month and the next and the next, continually, until your balance is used up. However, if the # of clicks exceeds 50 that first month, then we will bill you for the difference at the end of that month. Rates may go up from time to time, but we will notify you ahead of time.
