Why I only picked once from a money tree

I will always think of this as my first "stupid noob trick".

One day about a week after we joined, I looked through the event calender and saw an ad for multiplayer slingo game. Ooooh goodie, my RL/SL partner Eli and I both loved playing slingo online, so we set off to play our very first game.

We met the most wonderful couple who were running the game. I cant even remember if we won anything that first time, but I consider meeting Bonn to be a very wonderful prize that lasted much longer than a handful of $L would have.

Once she found out we were so brand new our paint was barely dry, clueless and still quite lost, she took us under her wing. Before we left, she told us we could rent a house on her land for a very nominal fee of only $50L a month! We walked from the slingo game area up to the house and it was just darling!! It was much bigger than our tiny motel room, but I wanted to hold on to the motel room too, as we'd just learned about rolling sim restarts, and this made it easier to have more than one place to run to.

Bonn was incredibly patient with us. Elijah was picking up how to build easily from her, but I fumbled badly. I did my best, but it just wasn't sinking in. Bonn also had some solo slingo machines, and had encouraged us to play them. I did much better at that than I did building anything. If we wore our group tag, we'd be paid money for sitting in the chairs playing the slingo machines too. This way, we had money to be able to play the machines and the multi player slingo.

Next to the slingo machines, she had a money tree for new people. She told us we could pick free $L off this tree. I went to the tree, and followed her directions to "right click to get the money". It said "TAKE" on the pie menu, so I chose that.

OMG the whole tree disappeared!! I didn't know what to do and started to cry. Finally I mustered up my courage and sent Bonn an IM admitting what I did. She laughed and reassured me it's okay, she'd just rez another tree. She came right away and replaced the tree.

When Eli got home from work I mentioned about this, and darn if he didn't log into SL, walk right up to the tree and yank it up as well!

We found out the reason we were able to take the entire tree was that we were wearing the same group tag as the money tree. I was so traumatized by this, I never again attempted to pick from a money tree.

Shown in the picture displayed is my own money tree since the slingo land and that poor tree I stole is long gone. In my defense, the pie menu still displays "TAKE".
